Amos 9: You Make the Choice

Join us this week as we commit to making a choice, a choice in our daily lives to put God first.

This week’s message, “You Make the Choice,” brings us to a powerful conclusion of our walk through the book of Amos while also reflecting on God’s covenant words in Deuteronomy 30:15–20. Both passages confront us with the same truth: God has set before us life and death, blessing and cursing, and it is up to us to choose.
In Deuteronomy, Moses reminds Israel that obedience to God’s commands leads to life, growth, and blessing, while turning away to idols brings destruction. Loving the Lord, walking in His ways, and clinging to Him is not merely an option—it is the very essence of life itself. God makes it clear that the decisions we make, day by day, ripple into our future and into the lives of generations to come.
Amos 9 drives this reality home with sobering weight. God’s judgment is inescapable; no one can outrun His justice. Israel’s complacency, idolatry, and rebellion brought devastation, and Amos paints the vivid picture of a God whose eyes search everywhere, leaving no hiding place. And yet, the message does not end with judgment. God promises restoration, not only for His people Israel but for all who call upon His name. The fallen house of David will be rebuilt, and blessings will overflow in ways that only God can provide.
Together, these passages remind us that every decision is a spiritual decision. Each choice reveals where our hearts truly rest: in self, sin, and idols—or in God, who is our life and our salvation. We are stewards of our bodies, our minds, our homes, and our relationships. The question is not whether we are making choices, but whether those choices honor God or pull us further from Him.

Challenge Statement
Every day, you stand at a crossroads: life or death, blessing or curse, obedience or rebellion. God has already chosen you in love—now it is your turn to choose Him. Do not delay, do not hide, and do not excuse sin. Choose life today. Love the Lord, obey His voice, cling to Him, and let your choices reflect a faith that is alive, courageous, and unashamed.
