The Book of Amos
Join Us as we go Verse by Verse through the book of Amos
Welcome to Our New Message Series at Paul Community Church: The Book of Amos
This summer, we will walk verse by verse through the bold and weighty message of Amos, a prophetic book that still speaks powerfully to our times. Written by a humble sheepbreeder from the hills of Tekoa, Amos was called by God to confront a nation at the height of its success—but also at the depths of its spiritual decay. Though Israel was experiencing peace and prosperity, God saw beneath the surface: injustice, religious hypocrisy, corruption, and a people far from His heart.
Amos is not an easy book—but it is a necessary one. It is a call to wake up, to repent, and to return to true worship and justice. The roar of God’s voice from Zion echoes through every chapter, reminding us that God is not silent in the face of sin. His mercy is real—but so is His justice.
Throughout this series, we will explore key themes that challenge us both personally and as a church:
The Danger of Complacency in Comfort
God’s Demand for Justice and Righteousness
The Difference Between Real and False Worship
The Accountability of God’s People
The Hope of Restoration for the Remnant
Even as Amos delivers sobering judgment—not only on the surrounding nations but on Israel itself—his message ends with a surprising note of hope. God is not only just; He is also faithful. He will one day raise up a restored people who walk in His ways and reflect His heart.
In a world that mirrors the pride and indulgence of Amos’s day, this book urges us to examine our lives: Are we aligned with God’s justice? Are we truly worshiping with our lives—or just going through the motions? Are we listening to the roar of God’s voice before it becomes the rumble of His judgment?
Join us each week as we hear from the prophet Amos—not just as a voice of the past, but as a messenger for today. Together, let us learn to live lives of justice, humility, and authentic faith, walking forward in Spirit-led discipleship.
God’s Justice for All Nations
Through bold pronouncements against both foreign nations and Israel itself, Amos reveals that no one is exempt from God’s justice. His righteous standards apply to all people, calling us to live with integrity, mercy, and accountability.
True Worship, Not Empty Rituals
Amos challenges the appearance of religion without righteousness. God desires hearts that reflect His character—worship that goes beyond words and rituals to produce lives marked by justice, compassion, and humility.
A Call to Repentance and Hope of Restoration
Though Amos begins with warnings and judgment, it ends with a promise of renewal. God’s discipline is never without purpose. For those who repent, He offers restoration, healing, and the rebuilding of lives grounded in His truth.
