Joel 2 – God’s grace is more than we deserve – Hear the call and respond

Join us this week as we embrace God’s grace and share it with the world.

God’s Grace Is More Than We Deserve – Hear the Call and Respond
This week’s message focuses on the overwhelming grace of God—a grace we could never earn and far more than we deserve. In John 5:1–15, we see Jesus approach a man who had suffered for 38 years. With no one to help him into the healing waters of the Pool of Bethesda, this man was stuck—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. But Jesus, full of compassion and power, simply said, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” The man was immediately healed.
This encounter reminds us that God’s grace meets us even when we are unable to help ourselves. But it does not stop at healing. Jesus later tells the man, “Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.” Grace calls for response—not perfection, but repentance, transformation, and action.
In Joel 2:18–32, we see that after judgment comes restoration. God promises to remove shame, heal the land, and pour out His Spirit on all people. These blessings come not from what we have done, but from who God is—a God of mercy and love. The promise that “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved” still stands today.
We are challenged to recognize that grace requires a response. We are called to love as Jesus loved—not with mere words, but with sacrificial, Spirit-filled action (John 13:34–35). That means healing relationships, repenting from sin, deepening our walk with Christ, and extending grace to others.

This Week’s Challenge:
Reflect on the areas in your life that need healing. What is keeping you from stepping forward in faith? Hear God’s call, rise up, and respond. Share the blessings He has poured into your life, and let your love be the evidence that you are His disciple.
God has already made the first move. Now it is our turn to respond.

Grace Heals, But Also Calls Us to Rise

Jesus did not just heal the man—He told him to get up and walk. God’s grace is never passive; it empowers transformation. We are not called to stay in the same patterns of sin, shame, or spiritual paralysis. Grace invites us to rise, to walk in newness, and to leave behind what once defined us.

Restoration Is God’s Response to Repentance

In Joel, after warning and judgment, God restores what was lost. He removes shame, refreshes the land, and pours out His Spirit on all people. This is the God we serve—one who waits to restore and renew when we turn back to Him with open hearts and willing hands.

Love Is the Mark of Our Response

Jesus said, “Love one another as I have loved you.” That love—sacrificial, Spirit-filled, and active—is the true evidence of a heart changed by grace. The call is not only to receive healing but to become a vessel of healing and hope for others. One act of grace leads to a life of grace.
